A total of 772 players will take part in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2018 player draft on Thursday for the third season that is scheduled to be held from July 11 to August 10. Tamil Nadu Premier League 2018 (TNPL 3) is the 3rd edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. TNPL is an Indian Twenty20 cricket league established by the Tamil Nadu State Cricket Association (TNCA). The domestic cricket competition is modeled along the lines of the popular Indian Premier League (IPL).

Category A
- Those who have represented senior National team – Rs 5 lakh/Rs 4 lakh/Rs 3 lakh
Category B
- Rs 2.5 lakh/ Rs 2 lakh/ Rs 1.5 lakh (B1: Those who have played First-Class tournaments conducted by the BCCI (multi-day/One-Day/T20. B2: Those who have not played senior domestic tournaments conducted by the BCCI and those who have played more than 75 % of TNPL games for a team over the last two years).
Category C
- Other players Rs 1 lakh/ Rs. 0.75 lakh/ 0.5 lakh.
Team Squad
- Maximum squad size for the Franchisees is 19. All registered players who are not retained by teams will go into Player Draft Pool.
- TNCA will provide the list of registered players to the Franchisees atleast 7 days before the Player Draft. Only
players who are in the Draft Pool can be taken by the Franchisees. No private signing will be allowed. At the end of the player draft each team should have the fulfilled the following criteria: 1. Minimum squad size of 18, 2. Minimum of 2 players who have represented districts, 3. Minimum of 2 players who are below the age of 19 as of 1St September 2018
Player Draft
- Team will lose number of picks equivalent to the number of retained players who have represented in International and in senior domestic matches from 2017
- The Order of picks for all the rounds will be from highest bidder to the lowest
