Star India Pvt. Ltd. and Sony Pictures Network in race to grab broadcast rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The auction will be live-streamed on the website of the Indian cricket board. As per reports, Star India Group in race to get Broadcasting Rights from IPL 2018.
Only non-news television broadcasters will be considered eligible for TV broadcasting rights, while all broadcasters, Internet operators and mobile phone service providers can bid for digital rights.
The global television and digital media rights, except the Indian sub-continent, have been clubbed together and will be available for a period of five years. “The rest of world is grouped into different territories – for each of them, television and digital rights are clubbed together.
IPL media rights will given for five-year circle, which includes – IPL 2018, IPL 2019, IPL 2020, IPL 2021, and IPL 2022 season.
Apart from Star India Pvt. Ltd., Sony Pictures Network, Facebook, Airtel, and Twitter, other nine companies have been picked up for the Invitation To Tender (ITT) to bid for the broadcast and digital rights of the property in the Indian subcontinent and global markets for the next five years.
