After winning the toss, Australian skipper Aaron Finch chose to bat first, their batters proved this decision correct by putting 389 runs on the board. Australia register their highest total against India, as they have posted a mammoth total of 389/4 on the board in the second ODI with Steve Smith’s hundred and fifties from David Warner, Aaron Finch, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell. Australian openers Finch and Warner once again gave a fabulous start, as they added 142 runs for the first wicket partnership. Shami gave India the first breakthrough as he sent Finch to the pavilion for 60. David Warner looks in a good rhythm but departs for 83 after getting run out. In the middle order, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne took the charge of the Australian inning. Smith smashed the 10th ton before getting out by Hardik Pandya while Labuschagne gets out by Bumrah after scoring 70 crucial runs. In the end, Glenn Maxwell finished the game with a half-century, he scored unbeaten 63 runs.
India needed a good start from openers but once again two early wickets taken by Australian bowlers put pressure on middle order batsman’s. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored 89 and 76 runs respectively but couldn’t win the game for India. Australia win by 51 runs and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series.
