The Deodhar Trophy 2017 is a List A cricket competition in Indian domestic cricket. Deodhar Trophy is named after Prof. D. B. Deodhar (known as the Grand Old Man of Indian cricket) and is a 50-over knockout competition played on an annual basis among the three teams.
2017 Deodhar Trophy will be the 44th season of the Deodhar Trophy, It will be played in a three team format between the winners of 2017 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and two teams (India A, India B) selected by the BCCI. One big name Mahendra Singh Dhoni missing from squad.
The two sides (India A, India B) will contest against Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017 winners, Tamil Nadu, in the triangular series that will be played in Vizag between March 25 and 29.
The tournament is preparation for players like Rohit Sharma who recently recovered from injury, Manish Pandey, Dhawan, Axar, Jadhav and Gurkeerat Singh with India not expected to play any competitive 50-over competition before the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday (March 21) announced the squads for India ‘Red’ and India ‘Blue’ for Prof D B Deodhar Trophy 2017. Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel have been named to lead the Blue and Red side respectively.
