Desert T20 Challenge 2017, Mini World Cup for Associates

The 2017 Desert T20 is an international Twenty20 cricket tournament that is scheduled to be held at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai from 8th to 21st January. The eight Associate Members that have T20I status were scheduled to take part. Papua New Guinea declined to participate and were replaced by Namibia.

Desert T20 2017 involve seven T20 Associate & Affiliate nations (UAE, Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan, Netherlands, Oman & HKG) and Namibia.

The Emirates Cricket Board have to host it and With the World T20 every four years its an opportunity to all the Associates to play each other and climb the global rankings.

Desert T20 2017 Tournament Overview
Twenty20 is such a format that no teams are favourites and we all start with equal chance to win the tournament, but not Afghanistan is favorite to win Desert T20 Cup, highest ranked at 9th position among Twenty20 international teams.

United Arab Emirates played against Afghanistan last month, they lose both played T20 game but UAE captain Amjad Javed said “The UAE as hosts of the eight nation Desert T20 tournament march into the event with an edge over all their rivals”.

Javed also thank ICC and ECB for organizing such event. Amjad feels that event like Desert T20 TV telecast or live streamed through internet. Live scores of Desert T20 available on cricketzine, espncricinfo & cricbuzz.
